~ ~ ~ spectators – Viewing The Race ~ ~ ~
RACE START:
The race start may be viewed from Junipero Beach between oil islands Grissom and White. The best viewing is done from the water on a boat! Spectator boats will be asked to stay clear of the start area, to keep the Queens Gate breakwater opening clear and stay behind the orange buoys at the finish line.
RACE FINISH:
The Finish Line is near the Queen Mary stern. Best viewing is from a boat on the water, or from the Shoreline Marina bike path. The Queen Mary has reopened and is available for viewing the start and the finish.
NOTE: The Race officially ends and scoring stops 3 hours after the start. LBB&SC Patrol Boats work with the Long Beach Lifeguards, Harbor Patrol and US Coast Guard to keep the course clear and safe for all until the race is declared to be officially over.
